No2 Freer Street

Vastint – an extremely active developer of hotels and mixed use developments across Europe – acquired the old McEwans ‘Fountain Brewery’ site, Edinburgh, in 2016. With consent for 60,000 sq ft of offices, a 262 Moxy Hotel and 234 new homes, the development is transforming a previously much unloved site at the end of the Union Canal. The Moxy Hotel is now open and the offices are reaching practical completion in Q2 2021. CuthbertWhite was appointed by Vastint at the very outset of the design stage to advise on what the office market would be seeking in this location, working alongside the architects, PM and M&E engineers. CuthbertWhite is now appointed exclusively to secure tenants for the office space, with a further role working with Savills on the leisure and retail units within the scheme.

When we purchased this development site in 2017, we required the services of an agency who fully understood the dynamics of the Edinburgh office market. They required not only a strong track record in letting, but it was essential they had detailed experience in the design stage. CuthbertWhite was selected as their Directors had been involved in numerous Grade A office schemes in the city over the years. Working alongside 3D Reid, Chris and his team reviewed the design of this 60,000 sq ft scheme to ensure ‘best in class’ product was being provided. We are delighted with No2 Freer Street and look forward to opening the doors to tenants from the end of Q2 2021.
