CuthbertWhite advised Chris Stewart Group with the discreet, off-market purchase of the Romanov portfolio – a strategic four building, Edinburgh-based portfolio to include two former RBS office headquarters on St Andrew Square. These buildings were later re-branded “The Registers” and evolved into a £100M city-centre regeneration exemplar to include a new flagship 61,000 sqft Grade A office headquarters which was successfully pre-let in 2018 to Baillie Gifford, various leisure and retail spaces including Hawksmoor, Tattu, Lady Libertine, Franco Manca, Nationwide, CaveFit and Sotheby’s and an award-winning 5 star hotel residence – the Edinburgh Grand – comprising 50 luxury apartments in a hotel setting. CuthbertWhite acted as deal originator, development consultant and leasing advisor.
Chris Stewart Group acquired an Edinburgh city-centre portfolio from Lithuanian-based administrators in 2014. The acquisition, which includes the neo-classical former RBS headquarters in No.42, St.Andrew Square, together with connecting properties on West Register Street, was highly complex. CuthbertWhite helped us to unlock the opportunity and ultimately acquire the assets off-market at a competitive level. They provided us with a highly discreet and effective service and we look forward to working with them again in the very near future.
